Whoops,
Changed the glow plugs yesterday, no problems a half hour job, tested the Terra which burst into life , no problems.
Went to go out this afternoon, every thing seemed fine, engine turned over 5 or 6 times then died - flat battery.
Ive put the battery on charge overnight, hopefully that will sort her out.
Has any body had this problem before? any advice would be gratefully received.
Just had a quick look in the battery cells, everything seems to be bubbling nicely.
Rick

Hi Rick, if the problem persists have a look for previous posts regarding the Ignition switch and see if anything seems familiar.

Batteries are also a problem on the Terrano/Mavs as the diesel engines needs a huge current.
What I have noticed though is that since adding molyslip to the engine, it does seem to turn over faster, less friction maybe.

Morning All.
Right, reconnected the battery after its all night charge, fired her up, the engine turned like an electric drill, but wouldnt catch.
Rechecked all fuzes, connections and anything else that came to mind still nothing.
To hell with it I thought and put the original set of glow plugs back on and lo and behold Bingo, up she fired as normal.
I suppose the new glow plugs are are either u/s or the wrong ones, I got them from Ebay, Wellman part no W453.
Any thoughts welcome

Have you compared the new ones with the old ones side by side, I know there are different ones for the TD and TDI engine, I got mine from Milners, no problems with them.

On inspection, they are nigh on identical apart from the new ones having a larger element, i.e the bit that heats up.

Hello Rick, Has anyone else had problems with the e-bayer, Was his recent feedback ok?.

Mav.

I have gone through Wellmans site and I should have received part no W570 not the W543 I was sent, I will conntact the seller to sort it out. he has a reasonable feedback of 99.9% so should be reliable. :?

Would a plug that fits not work, I was under the impression that they all did the same thing but had different sizes for different engines and only that?

Mav,
Thanks for that,
My originals are similar to the top plug but without the step in the element.
The bottom plug looks identical to the set I got from ebay,
Which is the correct one? and as before surely if either fits it would work, so why didnt mine, or did I get a really flukey fault that just happened to occur at the same time? :?:

The lower picture is identical to mine on the TD version 1995, looks like you have the wrong type.

Thanks Rustic, that confirms what I gather from the part numbers.
but why when the two engines are basically the same would one set not work like the other?
Anyway thanks again.
