dead

have you got fuel at all injectors and pump end .
not something stupid like a rusted out fuel line dragging in air?
seal on top of fuel filter?

diesel in pump not alot at injectors think theres air somewhere

A friend recently changed fuel filter in Pajero and got it airlocked. Think it was tried to start it before primed the filter. Couple of hours were spent trying to start the thing. Phone calls were made to various mechanic friends and various things tried including sucking diesel up the lines by mouth. Only way we got it started was towing it down the road and trying to start it under tow. It took a bit of towing but once it started it was humming. Don't know if this is advisable but it did work and it wasn't my Pajero.

i remember once comparing fuel filters on a tdi t2 and an older mistral and the mistral housing was diiferent, as a result the newer filter would not seal properly i think it was to do with some housings having a built in heater and some not?

a long shot but maybe worth a try?
