This is a weird one!
When accelerating, not all the time but sometimes, between about 1000 & 2000 RPM a strange metallic rattle comes from behind the dashboard cluster, on the left hand side. As the car goes over 2000 it goes away, but often it's accompanied with the ABS light coming on. This is then sometimes accompanied by the ABS becoming over sensitive and kicking in when it shouldn't. If you stop and re-start the engine the light goes off and the problem goes away.
I've had the brakes completely stripped and checked and nothing is wrong. No fault is being stored in the computer.
I think it's maybe a loose connection on the rev counter cable (do they still have cables?) that is causing a vibration at certain low revs, which in turn is upsetting the ABS light, which is turn is telling the computer there is something wrong with the ABS, which is then causing the ABS system to be too sensitive.
Or, is there something else going on?
