Has anyone got a diagram of how to remove the dash and the instrument panel on a T2 ? Especially one which shows the locations of the scews ?

Rich I see you have a 2000 plate so you could be a facelift MkIII.....the dash is held in differently to the earlier round headlight version.

But to be honest its not difficult, just have a go.

What are you removing it for? And if you can confirm which model you've got we can guide you to some of the more difficult screws :thumb2

Its worth a go, but if you have to swap it out get a garage to do it and document the service record.

I am assuming you have the radio surround that DOESN'T have the integral hazard switch....if so, heres what you do (roughly from memory!)....if you slide a thin knife blade all round the black plastc that immediately surrounds the radio it will soon pop out.

There are some retaining screws somewhere in there. Then there are a couple more around the ashtray, then (I think this is lastly!) take a kitchen knife or flat-blade driver and gently lever up the piece of the centre console that sits round the gearstick.....its only clipped on and will also pop off...when its off you should find two more screws at the very bottom of the centre fascia....after unclipping a couple of electrics and heater knobs I think thats it and the whole thing comes off.

Can't really remember the instrument cluster but its not difficult, all the screws are there but just need a bit of hide n seek to find....if you need the bottom panel off that sits below the steering wheel there are a couple of hidden fixings including one on the very upper left that you have to fiddle a bit but I swear, you don't need a bloody manual to take this lot off, its just time consuming compared to a MkII.

BUT - I don't think you need to remove the centre console to get the cluster out.....just get on with it man! :lol:lol

Did mine many moons ago with the flickery dash.... easy enough job so long as you take your time and dont go like a bull in a china shop getting the panels of, this is what I remember....

Ok, you will need to remove the lower part of the dash... 5 screws here where the arrows are... then unplug the mirrors and light 'thingy' from behind and you should be able to remove it.... (on the pic below you can see the screw holes to help you find them)

With the lower cover removed you then have another 5 screws to remove to get to the speedo... 3 screws above the speedo, and one either side which were hidden by the lower cover.... again you will need to fiddle around behind to unplug the alarm, internal locking button etc

With all the screws out and plugs disconnected you should be able to lift this out too.... leaving you with easy access to the speedo.

Speedo is held in with 4 screws - two at the top, and one each bottom corner, undo these - gently move the speedo forwards and you will see the plug (shown in the box)

With mine I think I basically 'wiggled' the plug into the back of the speedo about until the display showed as it should, then lashed it inplace with plenty of duck tape to hold it there!!! :augie
Worked ok afterwards though! :thumbs

To reassemble just do everything in reverse!!!! :naughty

DISCLAIMER - if you bugger it up dont blame me! I'm trying to write this from memory of a job I did 5 yrs ago! :doh

Just a reminder to those with a wibbley LCD panel - all that is 99% of the time needed is the connections re-soldering.

10 mins to remove the instruments from the truck, and 15mins to dismantle, re solder, re-assemble and replace all the backlight bulbs.

If you can work a soldering iron and have a small one (!) it's a doddle for a complete and permanant fix.

No problems mate, like I said - a pretty easy job, just take your time removing the panels.... oh, and make sure you keep the screws for the seperate bits erm..... seperate... and safe!!!! :augie :thumb2
