hi whilst out last night noticed that my digital readout seems to onlt be alluminated for about 3/4 of the dispay it was ok so is there a bulb behind it and ifso is it a bitch to change as it looks like a dash out job

3 bulbs located behind (Dont know type). Can do a pic in a bit. will also write up how to swap.

Changed bulbs in the dash not so long ago. But I had to replace more than three. There are a number of bulbs at the back of the dash but I also recall having to lift off the face of the display as well and stick a few bulbs in from the front. In particular the bulb showing when the headlight was on (shows as a blue light). The bulbs in my T2 are small little narrow bulbs a bit like the bulbs on christmas tree lights. If I recall correctly there is a diagram in the manual (zippy656 will has the link to the manual posted all over the place on the site) on how to take out the dash. There is instructions on here somewhere anyway on how to take off the dash.
