will a 96 square light model instrument board fit into a 97 round light model.

i have been posting here but it might not be notice because it is about LEDS but i need a answer to a question after i think i might have done something stupid to the circuit board and atm i just have it sitting striped down .other post

while looking and trying once again to fix the bulbs i actually notice on the circuit board some points have burned and so no contacts, i have asked and asked again and still unsure.

1 can i replace the instrument board from 96 model to 97 model.

2 if the answer is yes how do i make sure i'm not breaking the law with the mileage clock showing lower.

i dont think you can swop them over.

there is a place to send them away to ge trepaied, address some place on here...
willows golden garage list... or parts department threads i think

thx zippy for reply i'm trying to use comma electrocure atm.

comma electrocure is fantastic bit of kit i had it a few years back for my back windscreen, because i must have accidently crossed a couple of terminals and shorted out and burned apart and also part of the board was completly cracked because of a tight bulb which ripped it as its so flimsy.

Is there a lot of breaks in the track? I once had an Orion and the heater control lights had the same setup which simply fractured due to the heat from the bulbs. I was able to follow tracks and solder wires on to solid terminals and by pass the track's. If it's only one or two tracks is it possible to do a bodge like that perhaps.
As for the clocks if the terminals are the same I'd be tempted to give it a go and see what happens but that's got to be your choice to have a go. Can you not like for like from breakers or these parts web sites like parts gateway? Once changed if you have the space keep your old cluster in the shed or something and keep a note of mileage and dates when changed.

because i kept twisting on and off the led i accidendly ripped the terminal apart so what this done was stopped all the left side of the console as the negatives are all connected on the same line.

then when i was trying the main lights leds before inserting i would have to confirm positive and negative so i touch from the outside but i must have accidentally crossed 2 positives and woof of smoke then i notice along the line it was broken with a gap.

so basically i managed to destroy 3/4 of my board until i used comma electrocure, around the bulb connection the circuit board is easy to fix as there is no protective plastic unlike there is on the circuit line so what i had to do is scrap away to expose and then put paper tape on each side of the break and just ran the electrocure along and let it dry removed tape and all worked again.

i had to use the jeep yesterday so i never took a pic but i will tomorrow as now know i can fix it so i play around with led's more.:naughty
