i've checked the rear door seal and this looks alright
not sure if it happens after it rains, not paid that much attention
is this a known problem on the T2?

Hi Stefan.
yes there is a bit of a problem with the rear door seal ,it gets old and leaks a bit .:eek:that sounds familiar.:doh
anyway get the talcum powder out and give the door seal a bit of a dusting ,carefully close door re open and see where the talc has been disturbed by contact with door .
wHERE THE TALC IS STILL INTACT IS POSSIBLY WHERE THE RAIN IS COMING IN.
REMIDY IS TO ADJUST HINGES AND LOCK STRIKER IN A LITTLE AND RETIGHTEN.

Have a look at the rear seal that sits on the body work above the door.
Sort of like a gutter on the roof, the rubber sits on a lip which often gets gunked up with grit & rubbish.
You should be able to pull the rubber seal off and clean it up then slip it back on check to see if it has rusted at the same time ;)

See how you go on that

even if it looks ok and is sitting correctly , grease the seal with silicone o ring seal from dow or similar.

I had water ingress from the rear tailgate aperture seal where the seal runs under the plastic scuff plate, it was coming in under the plate so i put some clear bathroom silicone sealer under the seal and refitted then on the on the plate where the seal fits.
