Has anyone here made a bigger and better bash plate for their Terranos?
Something thicker and that extends further back to cover the engine sump, and fix it to the crossmember just behind the front wheels.

I'm interested in trying to have one made for mine, just not sure how to get the angles of the bends correct

Make it out of thin ply wood first, cut it to how you want it then tack it together. Keep messing with it till it fits right, drill the holes where you need them and bolt it on. See how it looks, if ok, take it off brake it down and use the ply to make templates for the steel. Weld it up, drill the holes and fit it.
Simples..Eek. :thumbs

I've been looking at the same thing recently as I'm off to Morocco again in Oct and feel the need to protect the sump from stones.
The cross member behind the sump is part of the mounting for the front diff and is mounted with bushes to the chassis so I would be careful about using it to mount a rigid guard.
My solution is to use truck mud flap type material which will stop flying stones and should not be a problem mounted on the axle cross member. Truck mud flaps are also cheap, about £23 plus delivery from ebay for a pair 24"x18". Less if you have a local truck parts dealer or keep your eyes open at the side of the road.
May not suit your type of use but, for me, in Morocco, grounding is not issue and if it is, its on sand :doh Done that once or twice, thank heavens for my shovel :thumb2
