Thanks to a near senile Jaguar driver last night who didn't feel it necessary to give way or even stop when pulling out of a car park, my Maverick TDi is now rather battered, to the tune of nearside front wing, front bumper, bonnet, rad grille and as yet unexplored front suspension. Having followed Briggie's experiences with Sheila's accident, am I pretty much looking at a write-off due to unavailability of repair parts? On the plus aside, he was relieved of his licence at the scene but only after they got him out of the hedge :naughty

Let me know what parts you are after, we got quite a few in the yard of various colours :thumbs

I'm sorry to hear about your woes.

That is what I dread, with my 1995 Td, one idiot, one seconds' loss of concentration.
There were some days when I used to drive my Ambassador I used to think it was cloaked, and no one could see it. Several close shaves in one local trip.

I have less of a problem with the Mav as that might hurt them a bit more...
But so many people are in a rush.

The number of times I see women driving off a car park with the phone in one hand, they must have made the call just before moving off. IDIOTS !

you are perfectly entitled to sue him for what it costs to put you back in the position you were in before the accident. So with more Mavs in the scrapper than the rare Mistral, you might be OK....

He should be more worried about Smith v Leach Brain at the moment because the doctor has just told me the accident has badly aggravated a previous work injury :doh

Packed the poor old Mav off to the bodyshop today after stripping out any goodies that I could eg cd player and K&N. I have a horrible feeling that I won't be seeing the old girl again :(

As suspected, it is well beyond economical repair so I now have to find a replacement 4x4 capable of towing a chipper or log trailer. Anybody know of anything for sale near to me? Happy to drive other makes/models as long as they are up to the job. As an amusing aside, the hire car company which has supplied my loan car was given the following criteria; 4x4, will be needed to go off-road although not madly, will be used as a work vehicle so a pick-up with a locking back would be ok and should be capable of towing. They have supplied me with a brand new Mercedes ML350  Currently awaiting something more suitable from them :lol

Well, according to the Co-ops assessor, my Maverick was worth all of £1,000  I managed to argue them up to £1,200 and so the search for Arbtruck #2 commences. Got a Mazda crew-cab pick-up to look at tomorrow, as well as another Maverick and a Daihatsu Fourtrak. To say I am thoroughly peed off at the moment would be an understatement

as your part of a club I believe you can say it's worth more.

I have not read all the post as i wanted to post this to you fast.......DONT LET THEM KEEP YOUR TRUCK.

They will ask you to sing it over to them for the insurance to pay up, DONT DO THIS. They have no right to the truck unless you give it too them.

You pay your insurance for the cover, you dont pay your insurance and give them a truck for cover. This is the biggest con going.

If they repair the truck, do they own the parts they have replaced, NO! they will put you a good fight but if you stick to your guns you will get the money and the truck back.

Even better, if you have no signed it over then its still yours, ask for it back NOW! you may find they have already scrapped it, then you can demand almost what you want.

Already had to send V5 off. Where do I stand? :nenau

Its too late im afraid.

As soon as they get the V5, they can take ownership of the truck.

And they wont send it back as they know your on to them!

Sorry

You live and learn, I suppose. At least I know not to go to the Co-op for insurance in future :doh
