hi can anyone tell me if the crossbar that attaches to the two tie rods can u replace the end pieces or do u have to buy the whole bar

thanks

hi
someone more knowledgable will soon answer.do you mean the anti roll bar or the steering bar? either way the ends can be replaced. i think the steering bar has a total of 6 tie rod ends/track rod end joints that are replacable the anti roll bar has 2 plus 2 rubber bushes all replacable.

Hi mate thanks for reply its the steering cross bar the ball joint that connects to the pitman arm (going by the terrano manual download) is moving around it was that part i need to replace.
again thanks for reply

hi
i see what you mean now.the online manual states to replace as a complete unit. sorry i cant be of any more help someone else may be along soon with a better idea, might be worth ringing a nissan/ford dealer they may should tell you or try milners though there online shop is currently closed if you get realy stuck you could try a breakers yard or in the members ads sure someone is breaking a mav.

The cross bar, steering relay bar or drag link in english speak has to be replaced as a complete unit I'm afraid complete with 2 ball joints. I have an old Milners catalogue here and it has em at £57 +vat

Why is it called a 'drag link' Simon? Just interested....:)

thanks for reply terranosaurus the local motor factor guy just gave me a blank stare as usual so im gonna print of the diagram from the manual.

OR you can remove the "fixed" ball joint at each end of the bar and machine a proper swivel joint instead.
That will stop a lot of the natural play(Nissan's weak point) in the system too:D

from my fuzzy memory of mech eng at college; a "drag link" converts rotary motion into linear motion,
Steering arm rotates and drag link moves in a linear motion.... I think!

another steering related question

just a quickie.
had my motor serviced recently and the mechanic told me that i had got some play in the steering drop arms:nenau
i said o.k and went away not realy sure of what he meant and not wanting to spend any more cash that day i left it but i have noticed that when i turn into my drive as i hit the drop kerb on full lock i get a bit of a clunk.
just wanted to know which part he means as i'm not 100% sure.

mine is a mk 1 but its on a 96 n plate.
have got them at milners which is not that far from me so i might have a trip up and ask their advice.

The link is for a drag link for a Terrano 1. Elty has a Mk1 Terrano 2 - simples.

TBH I think they are the same anyway but can't guarentee it.
