yes and nope, and rather expensive, before you spend £200 on an injector I would put it on a computer, there are many mobile diagnostics firms around that are far cheaper than Nissan for the same result, Rick

I will see if work can plug for me one Saturday afternoon hopefully be easier, should that pin point more clearly?

Did yours also have three wires mate? And can u remember which you linked to which? Was the old sensor containing shielding wire as third wire, I have the audi sensor here and suitable spacer too! Just didn't look right to me as is a lot smaller

Did yours give stalling symptoms etc?

yes 3 wires, I can check tomorrow on colour match up, but if you use the audi sensor go by revolvers post, my symptoms were like yours, starts ok when cold but tries cutting out & sometimes stalls if only ticking over.

The main thing is for the sensor to have the resistance, i sealed mine on with liquid gasket.

Would be most appreciated if you could check for me mate symptoms are the same by sound of it i will be using instant gasket too! Nice to have a bit more knowledge it's daunting to just take that plunge and do it not knowing lol

OK will have a look in the morning

Cheers mate, hopefully I will have it sorted by today, once running right only a few small issues and it'll be just what I wanted lol

my old cps sensor
http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=218&pictureid=1055

the audi & some terrsno sensors are both narrow & longer than the mav & some terrano sensors.
so im gussing if your sensor is on the front of the engine you will have the short stubby one. if its at the back of the engine it will be longer & thinner, this is the one easily available from lots of sources.

to replace the the stubby one with the newer slim one you have to use your old plug & use a 3 to 4mm spacer, in my case i had to lengyhen the lead as well so judt used some 3 core cable.

this is modding an Audi CPS Sensor
Nissan RED to Audi WHITE
Nissan White to Audi BLACK

this is for Terrano CPS sensor I got from the bay, has been working fine for a few weeks now.
My Mav RED to BLACK &
WHITE to YELLOW

the dimensios of the old sensor are Dia:22.70mm Cylinder length 20.50mm (sorry did not keep dimensions of new sensor) if you remove the original sensor & poke your fingrr in the hole you should be able to feel the small lugs this gives you the maximum length for your new sensor.
my spacer was 3.80mm so a 4mm should be good.:thumbs

Sweet that explains a lot so I take it the third wire on car is shielding too? Will be on this in a bit a, just been swimming with kids

Yes the third wire is shielding

Right thanks for all your help guys - cps now installed and she idles better and seems to pull better BUT I now getting a slight chuffing everynow and then when I floor it almost like she not getting enough fuel through? I will eventually get to have a perfect running car :doh

Is this likely to be injector Rick? I replaced Cps as I had the audi one sitting here anyway, I have already checked and there is now mini filter so no issues here.

Well just to show how temperamental these can be, I have suffered poor low down tq on my motor since I put it on the road a month ago, I know for certain as I jump in the Mrs identical motor cept it has a Bosch pump and the difference is very noticeable, put a maf amp on and it improved but was not behaving the same as my off roader, so today I swapped the maf over, and a very noticeable difference, maf amp switched off I might add for like for like testing, my test is to come up my long drive in 2nd gear at just under 1000 revs, petrols do it with ease, my Mrs tdi is virtually the only diesel that would cope, now my one does it as well, getting to your point yes mine still hesitates a bit some times at around 2500 revs, so my next job when I get time is to pull the injectors and test them, I cannot test the lift sensor on No 1, well I do not think so but will give it a go with a meter, it is on the Zexel a piezo device so on injection I may be able to detect a voltage, but do not think such a test will be valid as if the sensor was bad a code would be given, the Bosch injectors are of the "pintle" design which makes them very reliable, I have not seen a Zexel injector out yet, so watch my posts re this issue over the next few weeks, Rick

sally ( my mistral ) had very good low down torque , but cant remember what set up she had

Thanks Rick, I will keep an eye out, I am more confident now as it does not want to cut out and is happier to idle so at least a little closer i think :lol

Well my cps sensor arrived from abu dabhi genuine nissan part for £62 not the £250 +vat nissan uk wanted!

And no stuttering on pull away now! happy happy, anyone needs cheep original parts see my link for parts suppliers!

Well done.

just been looking at prices for injectors, this site shows a bosch cross over for the zexel injector - is this correct?

http://www.yoyopart.com/oem/6480019/nissan-166000f020.html

cannot be as injectors are very different, Bosch go in at the top with twin leak offs, Zexel go in at the top but a little higher up as the leak off is a metal banjo through which the high pressure pipe passes, so even if the injectors are compatible you will need new injector pipes (assuming they match at the pump end) and a new leak off system, OK only rubber hoses if going from Zexel to Bosch, Rick

what makes you think you need injectors? Rick

I gave one of our techs a lift home and he said it sounded like it had chuffing injector - could all be linked into the loudness from blowing flexi i wonder making everything up front sound loud?

get flexi sorted first, injectors are a rare fault on these, apart from the electrics on No 1 but if that fails it will not start or if it does it will only run in limp mode, Rick
