Hi all I am trying to find a CPS sensor for my 2.7tdi auto, it has hitachi maf unsure on pump to be honest not sure where to look,

the current sensor is mounted to timing chest and held by 1 bolt and has three wire connector.

According to Euro car parts web site (who seem to show correct maf for my car) it has bosch cps, how would i find out part numbers etc?

http://www.eurocarparts.com/engine-management-sensor

managed to find out its this part number 259777f400 have tried a google search but nothing aftermarket :down:

any ideas

As I dont have a known to fit spare sensor I am reluctant to cut the wire on the one on car - but I imagine like the vw one the thrid wire is purely shielding?

Do not have one for the Hitachi/Zexel set up, how do you know your sensor is bad, it should give an ohms reading of 1500 ohms, Rick

Not checked ohms rating yet, reason I point to this sensor is it brings up fault code for it when hot and will cause lumpy idle along with stalling when slowing/stopping, maf has been replaced and this got rid of that code and restored power

these sensors consist of a coil of very fine wire around a permanent ceramic magnet they fail when hot due to a break in the wire, point is while hot and open circuit, if you stall the engine it should not start again till the coil cools and remakes contact as the ECU has no data for timing, if it starts then it suggests it is not your CPS, I am sure rayf can shed more info on this, Rick

Ah right, I have had similar problems on old cars and cos has solved Rick, but am fully open to suggestions if there are any, I assumed it was weak sensor

I am not certain but is it not CPS and No 1 lift sensor on the same code? if so it may well be the No 1 injector that has failed, Rick

Would that account for lumpy running, can the lift needle sensor be cleaned up to test before replacing either this or cps

yes and nope, and rather expensive, before you spend £200 on an injector I would put it on a computer, there are many mobile diagnostics firms around that are far cheaper than Nissan for the same result, Rick

ah the old cps sensor, my mav had one like in your first pic. I successfully fitted the one in the second pic, you have to cut the wires & swap the plug end, then space the new sensor as its about 3mm longer. I got one off the bay for £70.00 nissan wanted £270 after discount. I later found out on here you can use one for an AUDI A3 A4 A6 A8 cost about £13 . you should find the original post by reolver helpful

Did yours also have three wires mate? And can u remember which you linked to which? Was the old sensor containing shielding wire as third wire, I have the audi sensor here and suitable spacer too! Just didn't look right to me as is a lot smaller

Did yours give stalling symptoms etc?
