I really dont think our govt could organise a piss up in a brewery.

Has anyone seen tonights news and the farce is the evacuation of Brits from Libya ???

Theyre now playing very slow catch up :doh:doh

The latest is various military units going in and covertly escorting brits out by road. What an f'ing shambles

At one time something like HMS Albion would have stood off shore, well able to defend itself and extract a few hundred brits. They would have been supported by at least one aircraft carrier like Ark Royal with troops on the ground in the port for support.

Clear message to gadaffi loyalists WOULD have been.............interfere and we will screw you up big time.

However we cant :doh:doh because our stupid politicians have shafted the armed forces.

Coupled with the govts further inability to organise the proverbial i feel heartily sorry for anyone caught up trying to get out of Libya :(

Is it only me despairing at these lot :nenau

suprised they never asked someone else to pick em all up,coz all our ships were moth balled!

Why should we the taxpayer pay ?

I am not sure why we the UK taxpayer should make it our job to rescue Brits from Lybia to be honest ?

The vast majority of ex-Pats have chosen to work in a country like Lybia as they pay high wages that are virtually free of UK tax.

If you choose to work in a country like Lybia or Iran etc then I am sorry but it's at your own risk so do not bleat about your rescue being chaotic and late in the day.

They should charge them a nice evacuation fee as well.

Presumably we will end up providing housing and benefit as soon as they land in the UK and will they will be suing the UK government for loss of assetts abroad !

imagine most work for bp after bliars nice little prisoner for oil deal so bp could end refunding government?

fair enough :thumb2

historicaly though we do look after our own. I do agree with billing them.

My point though is the appalling lack of ability of this govt to actually get something done and the lack of assets to do it :naughty

i mean this is the govt who's home secretary (ie the one who dictates terms and conditions on the police service) when told cops pay pension contributions at almost 11% per month , allegedly replied with words to the effect of " do they really ? didnt know that" :doh:doh

what an interesting debate, i can see both points of view here, and the fact that we now seen so overstretched and under equipped in a world that seems to be constantly at war is a bit of a worry :thumb2

I reckon theyve fallen into a double trap. Theyve ignored the lessons of history and are running us on bare bones "making do"

sure fire recipe for disaster.

seems like saving money, but how much more will it cost for a fast bail out when the Pooh hits the fan?

Would this be the same Govt who's cuts have caused Fast Jet Pilot's who are two flights off passing out as newly qualified to be hung out to dry. The 30 servicemen made redundant by email a couple of weeks ago whilst one was actaully serving in Afghan!!!
Forcing people to get job's that just aren't there?

Better not go on but you kind of get the picture.

get rid of nuclear misles there no longer any good as deterent when most chappies youre fighting armed with ak47 and rpgs, invest more into special forces to go hunt ring leaders down (im convinced bin laden and co dont wanna die,and sneer at the brainwashed minions who do go blow themselves up!) invest in infrastructure, roads, power plants = jobs once there all up and running they can come over here and buy all our famous brands and mnfcr at home for peanuts and flog it back to us!....oh and beat us at footbal, cricket etc!

is this the same bunch whos leader is swanning round Qatar today and his second in command is on holiday and the home secretary tells the world that gadafi has fooked off to Venezuela not!!!
knobs

now where was it most of hitlers mob buggered of to?mmmm venezuela wasnt it lol, hell have good company then!

Totally agree with Mac.

99% of people go to shitholes like that for money.

Don't like it? Don't f*cking go then!

We get billed for a fricking ambulance here and they get free transport home with my tax dollars....:doh:doh:doh

Its like these do-gooders who go to nasty countries then expect to be bailed out when - surprise surprise - they get taken hostage or suchlike.

Am I coming across as a bit of a Daily Mail reader or what? :lol:lol:lol

Let them f()£!Ng rot there, tax evading gits all on huge salaries.

They can charter their own plane!!

When I was in the army people got redundancy letters, not a big issue then so why now, is an email not a modern day letter, do we not all use email in the same context as we once used letters. And lets be honest most people don't get redundancy notice they turn up for work and the gates are locked.

Text by phone I would agree, but email and letter are classed as official methods of communication but both are still text aren't they?
