What the thought on engine coolant, I want to change mine and was wondering what type and amount of anti freeze/water mix I should be using.

OK, I have looked in the manual and it says only use L250 coolant, how can you tell if the coolant is L250, I have 5ltrs of blue coolant in my garage, any thoughts on this.

Its just Nissans own brand, probably expensive. Most use ethylene glycol .Don't lick your fingers when you do it.David.

Just pull the bottom hose off the rad and drain it, then put about 1.5-2 ltrs of coolant in and top it up with water

Well that's what I was going to do, but then read about this Nissan coolant, I will just change it.
Cheers

be careful of the old blue AF as it did not like Ali, I use Comma pink, good anti freeze and good anti corrosion properties for all metals, not perfect but good enough, Rick

Hmmm, cheers Rick, I have checked on the stuff I have and it's carplan blue star, say's it's for all engines with corrosion inhibitors and is methanol free.
What do you think:confused:

None are perfect, but if it says for all engines on the pack then it should be OK, I do a lot of solar systems and we use a special AF for these, pipe is copper manifold is copper or stainless fittings are brass, pump is cast iron body and the liquid still goes rusty brown after a year or two, Rick

I'm planning on doing my coolant tomorrow, and from what I've read on here taking the drain plug out is damn near impossible.
So draining from the radiator is the other option. But if I do that, I won't get all the old coolant out.

So do I drain it, fill with water, drain it again and so on, a few times then whack in as much coolant as I can (I'm hoping this will be 4-5 litres for a 40-50% ratio)
Or is there a better way?

Pull bottom and top hose off, place top hose to mouth and blow down it
