coolant issues.

tried rad toda, and found nothing above fins though felt wet.
movesd onto expansion tank very low, other resouvour beneath
empty.

so filled rad, then filled expansion then topped up bottom to max.


then discovered that the presured cap was on rad not expansion
so swapped them over too.

it hasnt overheated yet, not sure if caps reversed at last service
or were already wrong way around. never goes over half on gauge
even towing 'van but not usre if can smell coolant in exhaust??

With the radiator cap not working you would have the expansion chamber full and the radiator empty.
Basically as the water heats up it expands into the tank as it cools sucks back into radiator.

What I would suggest is a head gasket test if all the tanks are empty and you think you can smell anti freeze in the exhaust, could be sucking the water into the engine and burning it off.
