Aarghhh!! The condensation in my Terrano is driving me crazy, there are no leaks, but boy do I get bad condensation. I would be very grateful on any hints on why it is such a big problem.

where? its usually in one specific area like windscreen, and you should find you have a tiny leak somewhere - have you got aircon?

aircon unit or sunroof drains are typical culprits

also have a good feel of the carpat by the back door, could be the door seals.

Lacroupade, Windscreen big style, but all windows including the rear one!! Funnily enough hardly ever the sunroof. :nenau

My condensation problem turned out to be a very small water leak from the heater matrix.
As its a long job to remove it, I put K-seal in the cooling system and has been as good as gold since.

There are lots of other places water can get in too, sunroof drains, rear door seal, etc.... search the forum for water leaks....

Then search for sunroof drains and for aircon (the unit in the passenger footwell sometimes leaks condensate) - I'm sure you'll find there is defo a leak somewhere and I suggest passenger footwell is favourite as both of these end up there usually.

If you have aircon, I'm sure you know it should be on all year round even with the heater on? Not only does it dry the air and clear the condensation quickly, but it keeps the systems seals lubed, which otherwise dry out and leak aircon fluid out.

And as Zippy says, check your boot carpets as some folk have had door seals leak, but easily fixed with a bit of reseating and silicon grease or somesuch thing (threads on that too)...oh its ALL here you know!:thumb2

Make sure the heater isn't on re-circulate air all the time. Sometimes the control lever moves but the mechanism doesn't as it can become disconnected.
Check the control, you should hear the movement of the flap..
Easy to check.
Best regards, Rustic

condensation!!!

well done that man ......... my heater is stuck on re-circulation and i am bothered by condensation .... trouble is the control is stuck on re-circulate and wont move back

i have a lot of condomsation in my truck too i just put it down to the heavy breathing:augie

If the pollen filter is blocked the windows tend to mist up very quickly, dead easy to change the filter just check the downloads in Quick Links.

Bad condensation is usually caused by a water leak or wet people if it's raining outside. Have a really good feel around all the carpets, front foot wells and just inside the boot areas are the usual spots but pretty easy fixes.

quick cure is heat the inside to the max crack passenger side window(no need to sit in a draught) and hot, water laden air is sucked out.
Tony.
