I'm so utterly depressed with all of this now It's made me want to just not want to look at my car anymore never mind drive it :(

Me and a mate who is very handy at this kind of stuff (especially VW vans) have tried now on 4 separate occasions to get this board in and it will not stay :(

You name it we've tried it!!!!

It's got to the point now where I'm exploring alternative methods of getting this sorted firstly I've toyed with the ide of getting someone to cut me a piece of oversize aluminium the same shape as the board and then rivet it or self tapper it to the body which will give it it's support then just clip the trim back in for aesthetics rather than support

My 2nd idea if I cant find anyone to do this at a reasonable price would be to ring my insurers and tell them someone has smashed my window, if it was questioned then I'd say I attempted to remove all the gubbins around the window myself in order to put a temporary board in there to stop water getting in.

Please discuss guys, i'm really annoyed with this to the point of tears and just want my truck looking respectable again, it's ruined my holiday plans as I can't take it away with me now for obvious security reasons :( we are having to take my girlfriends 61' 1.2 Fiesta which struggles with hills empty :doh

If anyone on here offers to take this on I'll make it worth their while!!!! Ginna comes to mind instantly after seeing his genius buggy project but I'm sure there will be others

I'd just use some alu and then rivet it with sealet to the gap.

Yep 3mm ali and some stainless clinch studs look neater than rivets wont be seen on outside once painted

Do you need to use any fixings, could you not just use Tiger seal? That would fix it in place, and seal it.

Been there done that mate, got it everywhere, the problem is when these boards are removed thy flex and turn into Bananas and never go back to the correct shape and therefore never bond right again :(

It's def going to need some Ali riveted in, but everyone I'm asking to do it is refusing :banghead:

Why do I take these stupid jobs on, I wish I'd have just sold it now and brougfha commercial

Top man, you don't know anyone willing to it do you?

I'm desperate and this is way out of my skill set, I'll be away for a week on holiday from Saturday so would need doing after that ASAP

You work in computers? can you do autocad drawing

would look good with black chequer plate. look on ebay for sellers and pm them if they can do custom cuts.
have you tried strengthening the panels prior to fitting, tiger seal some 1x1 wood, letting it set then tiger sealing to truck? would take the flop out.

Hey buddy

Thanks for the reply, I've not been round at the mo I'm in The lake District at the moment. Trust me the original boards will not be going in, I'm going to go for some plain aluminium, just need someone to offer to do it for some good money :thumbs :nenau ???????

If anyone wants to offer to do this for me, drop me a PM and we'll get this arranged, I'd be willing to pay good money to get this sorted and can offer IT services in return, I just need this sorting :(

Im just waiting for the .dxf file

It's a digital drawing of what you want cutting. Like a plotter would want I guess
I'd just cut a template and cut from that :thumb2

Yep, cut the straight edges with a grinder. Then cut the curves roughly then sand to a nice curve.

The vw breakers in oldbury have a plasma cutter. Maybe they could cut round ur panels for $? I forget there name now, good guys tho. Then rivet or tiger seal on mucka
