Commercial back to seats

has anyone done the conversion from a 3 door SWB van to put seats in the back ?

will everything just go in once the basic bits are removed, are seat and seat belt mounts still there

Do the window blanking plates come and will windows go in same place ?

any advise would be welcome

I'm trying to go the other way round, so if you can get your panels out I'll swap you for a set of windows

I have the chance of a 55 plate commercial but need the seats being sub I can keep it when my new dual cab arrives in a few weeks time, I do need back seats though for my little girl

Your welcome to them if it comes off, I have sorted a full leather interior with the windows etc... At the right price (£100) so you would at this stage be ok on the swap, having said that I suppose a set of spares never hurts

I have two front leathers waiting from James (terranobreakersshropshire) collecting all my goodies on Monday finally he's been dead busy on the farm but I think he's coming back to use the forum again soon he says. So if any of you guys need parts at excellent prices in the midlands then PM the man

What makes you think the rear panels would have to stay ?

There was a post on here the other day which said the panels were welded or bonded on & would very hard to remove whole.

One thing to consider would be letting the insurance company know. They have different rates for the 5 seat and 7 seat so I guess they would also have different for 2 and 5 seats.

Makes sense less people involved if there is an accident.

If the rear panels are removed & replaced with glass I think it would loose it's Commercial status but just adding rear seats would keep it as it would become a crew cab

now that could be an idea, never thought about leaving them in, after all we would all only be in it very occasionally as the missus is getting a Grand Cherokee (if ever we find the right one:augie:augie)

This of course would somewhat curtail the playing of "cow and horse cricket" and "I Spy with my little eye" for the rear passengers

If there is just 3 of you's you could just fit 1/2 of the back seat & built a chest that can be bolted down where the other 1/2 would go to store your tools/recovery gear & the top could be padded so it acts as an armrest for the little one:thumbs Also keeping the steel panels would mean the truck would stop cooler in the summer plus the 05 models (mine has) have UV & thermal filtering glass at the front which does help to keep the temps down but in the winter you would poss find it warmer as i'm sure the rear is double skined
