In these cold days, I found out that cold air is comming in by the two middle air vents, even with the heater on warm. Is this normal and if not, what might be the problem?

Mine does the same . Either it's right or we both have the same problem.

No thats how its supposed to be Tom...my MkII does the same....I quite like having fresh air on my face while the rest is nice and warm :)

The MkIV doesn't seem quite the same though, so not sure if they carried it through the facelift?

In between the vents is a a roller leave for turning the direct fresh air off.
Roll it up and that shuts off the air that doesn't go through the heater system.
It's a double action vent

See how you get on ;)

Jeez I never thought I would see the day but I actually agree with Lacroupaid:eek: the fresh air is good. We had this thread a long time ago and Toolbox once said that if you turn heater on full and air direction out of the vents only you get warm air through, he's right but it's not that effective. The thumb wheels just turn the vents off on UK sepc motors.

Ok, it will be normal I guess. I had the vents allready turned off and it makes a big difference, but I can still feel a little bit of cold air coming in. I'll have to learn to live with it.

What a good idea ?

Could be a little warmer if you put a windscreen in it :lol

try turning outer vents by doors off, might alter pressure.

mind recall that some car reviewers used to moan that not
many cars gave cold to face AND warm to doors/feet so
could be design feature. guess idea being warm air to face
likely to send to sleep, fresh cold air invigorating, well maybe.

Isn't there a slider by the heater control for changing from FRESH AIR to RE-CYCLE AIR ?
If the slider doesn't change the type of air, maybe the system has seized.
Matt.
