After having the maverick serviced on monday the problem with the rev counter has returned. Sometimes at tick over the gauge drops to zero and the MIL light comes on although the actual revs are not affected.

Read the codes which say "fuel ignition pump position sensor - incorrect signal"

Probably a bad earth or short as I had a lot of mud and water in the engine bay.

Can anyone tell me where to find the sensor so I can have a look?

thanks Brian

Thanks for the link but I can't find what I'm looking for ;O( Would the fuel ignition pump position sensor be called something else?

I've disconnected every connector plug I can find and sprayed with WD40 and done the water drain on the fuel filter, nothing came out.

Any suggestions ?

Brian

Hi Brian,
search the EC section of the manual for: "Control sleeve position sensor"
I think thats the signal it's bitching about.
