Im still having issues with gear selection. I do have something to check this weekend but if its not the issue id like to be ready for a clutch swap.

More than likely im going to do engine out method but got a few questions.

Can I drop the front diff and then carry on driving about in 2wd? This might make it easier for me to spread the work over some days incase I need the Mav for work

Once the engine is out will the gearbox need to be supported or is that only needed when swapping clutch with engine in?

What is a good brand of clutch to use? Quite a wide price band, is it acase of you get what you pay for?

Ive seen you can put a 3.0 clutch in but may need the flywheel to be skimmed. If I can find somewhere local that does it I may consider the upgrade. But if I were to buy a 3.0 clutch kit would the release bearing still be the same as the 2.7 kit or is the release bearing specific to the clutch plate?

Yes you can run around with front diff out and no prop shaft or drive shafts, just do not go wading, gear box supports itself, do not bother with 3 clutch unless you have good power increase, any standard clutch will last your motor out, Rick

I agree with Rick, You dont need a 3.0 clutch if your not messing about with the power, When I put the 3.0 in mine at 104,000 it had the original clutch in it and probably would have done another 100,000 mine turned out to be the release bearing but as I already had the clutch I put the full lot in. I have a 2.7 clutch here that you can have for postage/collection that there is nothing wrong with you would just need to get a release bearing it would be a shame to bin it.

What an offer grab it now, Rick

Wow Luke thats an amazing offer! Thanks so much. Ill pm you for some details and payment if thats ok.

I do have a tunit unit to wire in but will stick to a regular sized clutch. I mean after doing the clutch once it should be easier and quicker next time if I upger needed to upgrade. :D

I know you're opting for the Engine out option but you might find some of my write up useful still, lots of detailed pics and posts starting from post #570 onwards;
