Mine was shot, check rubber behind pedal for weeping or stainage :thumb2 any signs at all change it.

It's not exactly stained behind the pedal but there could be past evidence of something. Going to change it anyway. So that will be a whole new hydraulic system. Should have an answer by Wednesday.
 
I had the same problems with mine, turned out to be an adjusted, just a thought :thumb2

I've adjusted up and down (but not to each limit) and the problem is still there.

However....the lock nut has not been wound in, I was going to tighten it down when I had
resolved the problem. So for testing purposes do I need to position the lock nut, would have
thought the threaded part would hold ok while testing ? Hope that makes sense !
 
Ok, so slave cylinder changed, master cylinder changed (there was black sludge in there, but no apparent leak) and flexi hose changed, damper blocked off. Now bled several times. The clutch pedal needs to be pumped several times to get into gear, which would suggest a bleed issue, but believe I have bled out all bubbles etc. Biting point at the bottom.

Frustrating the hell out of me.

alternative method of bleeding, lay under motor and push the slave fully in, any air should be pushed up the line into the master cyl, but some may still be in the top part of the pipe, without touching the pedal open the bleed on the master cyl, see if any bubbles come out, if you still have issues, check the pedal bracket is not broken, Rick
 
Thanks Rick, I also tried one of those kits I use on the brakes to push the fluid out and still no bubbles, think it's a gunson kit that uses a spare tyre.

Anyway.

I adjusted the clutch pedal again and set it to 5mm to the end of the push rod which seemed excessive to me, but.......it worked.

Thanks for all your help, it keeps the old girl going for a little longer , although I reckon the clutch must be the next expense sooner or later. I've put 70k miles since I bought it and the clutch history was unknown.

Thanks. Only minor issue now is, the clutch pedal is about 25-30mm higher than the brake.

It'll help me, too. I have to change my master cylinder tomorrow as mine's just started leaking :doh

Started replacing it this evening . . . .turns out the master cylinder was just fine and it's the stupid ruddy damper pipe at the back of the truck that's leaking :sly:doh

I should've ordered the replacement flexi instead of the MC. Anyone have any good ideas for blanking it off in the meantime?
 
I got a bolt with the correct thread to seal mine off but to be honest I wish that I had replaced the damper pipe instead.
 
That's going to be the plan, but in the meantime I need to get the truck moving :thumbs

Can you remember what thread it is?
 
Lol! I found it. It's a 1/4" BSP, just so you know for next time you get asked :lol:lol

If it comes down to it, I'll just fill the gallery with a piece of annealed copper sheet and run the existing fitting down on top of it as a running repair
 
Ever wondered why Japs and every one else including US uses BSP, (BRITISH STANDARD PIPE) for those that are wondering? Rick
