Clutch Pedal Play

Well today i have been trying to the bloody arm off the Saxo...no joy :doh:doh.
Anyway, I think I will look at the clutch pedal on Terry, I remove the pin and old plastic bush, which is fooked and have a look around for something suitable, I found a bush in the brake arm from an old push bike, this was brass and after cutting down with a Dremel, fits like a glove.
I fitted the pin and wahooo, normal clutch pedal action :clap:clap

At least something has got sorted today, I think that Saxo must be evil...bloody thing

You got any pictures of that?

This is the arm from the pushbike brake arm, I pressed it out and then cut it down.

If you look at the rhs of the arm, that's the bush that I used, I'm .trying to download another picture of the item after I had played with it, but my wife has gone out and the bloody computer doesn't want to play ball.
Any way, I hope you get the idea and I will try and upload the other picture later

Who knows, I may even be able to get a picture of Terry :augie

I just replaced the one, I might take one of the others out and get him to machine them too, hopefully get him to sell them as sets.

my leak is the flexi and no one could get one in time as its only from a nissan dealer.
so ordered one up to pick it up when home.
pipe and a ltr of oil £50.00 discounted.at home now so will do repair.

I got a plastic bush dirt cheap from Ebay (fits another make of vehicle) looked good but worn out after a couple months, so when I get time will make my own from brass, prob over Xmas, Rick

Surely all that does is adjust where the pedal stops, rather than why it stops prematurely?

Unless we are all talking different "Clutch" problems...:lol

My clutch works fine but the clutch pedal stops on return about 2-3 inches so have to pull it back up with my foot so that will be the clutch return spring i guess?

The clutch pedal spring is a bit weird, for the first inch or so it pushes the pedal up, but once you go past pushing it down that inch, it flips over and pushes the pedal down.

When I first had my car, there was an issue with the flex pipe down at the slave cylinder, and over night the pedal would sink to the floor... once I fixed this, I discovered that the pedal was not always going right to the top.

I changed the "top hat" bearing with one I made, and when this did not cure the issue, I purchased one off a guy on here who was making them, but again this did not fix the issue.

I then removed the master cylinder, undid the lock nut that hold the forks that connect the pedal to the cylinder, and then turned the forks one complete turn, making the link slightly longer, before re-locking the nut, and putting it all back together...

Since then, the pedal has been fine, and always returns to the top.

Hi.
Just throwing this into the Clutch Bearing Mix.
Here is a couple of links to a company called igus one of the things they specialize in is low to very high grade industrial plastic bushes and bearings of all types, shapes and dimensions. Not entirely sure what size the Clutch pedal bush is but there should be something here that will do the job for not to much money . A bit more if brought individually ( £4 ish )or cheaper (0.47 for 50) if brought in multiples. Larger multiples / down to 0.27 available. I took a rough guess on sizes based on this thread.

I have always found the igus site a pain to navigate but they are a uk company with phone number and I have always found them easy to deal with.
