had clutch fluid leaking eventually found it was leaking near back wheel thought that was strange as master and slave are at the front then discovered pipe runs from box at front to a box at the back can anyone shed some light on why pipe runs full length of truck and is not connected to anything

Its known as a damper pipe, ive just replaced mine but ive shortened it it now mounts half way down the chassis on the middle pipe support bracket if ya look on the end of the bracket theres already a captive nut and the bolt that holds the block at the rear axel fits a treat here saves trying to unclip all the existing pipe work

whole pipe was prety shot on mine so had to put blank end in box beside slave as i couldnt find pipe that size. dont know what size it is do you?
presume it takes presure of the arm

It does take pressure of the arm i just bought some copper pipe 7.9mm from local motor factor

Hi rsado

Did you not get the proper pipe or did you just fit new copper pipe where needed.

Copper pipe m8 as it lasts much longer than the normal metal pipe

I too recently encountered the leaking damper pipe problem after replacing my slave cylinder and subsequently trying in vain to bleed the system.

After doing some searching on the club forum, I found that one or two members had actually removed the damper pipe completely from the hydraulic circuit. I also found several other sites which gave details on removing the damper from other Nissan vehicles - e.g. http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=119160&highlight=clutch+dampner and http://garage.projectraine.com/content_guides/240_clutchdamper/clutchdamper.html

For info, I have bitten the bullet and removed the damper pipe and the connection block. I have replaced them with a single flexi-hose which connects the slave cylinder directly to the existing rigid pipe from the master cylinder. Unfortunately I haven't had the car back on the road yet to test this fully as I am doing other prep work for MOT. If it turns out that this approach doesn't work satisfactorily, I can easily revert back to the original setup.

Obviously it is entirely up to each individual whether or not they want to make this modification to their vehicle, but just thought I would throw this into the discussion for information.[/url]

clutch damper

Hi,
Removed my clutch damper yesterday, after reading posts on here after having experienced master cylinder reservoir was empty and followed the pipework to the slave cylinder looking for leaks but everything was ok, then moved along the clutch damper pipe and it was weeping fluid in various places so undone the damper pipe and sealed off connecting block then filled reservoir and bled system , all seems well now.

rustygates.

Rustygates how exactly did you seal of the damper pipe, some sort of blanking plug?
Thinking of doing mine
Thanks
