Clutch

Hi,

Had the same thing go on my terrano. Everything looked fine with no leaks but could not get gears.

The clutch release arm had broken on mine, the ball pivot just inside the gearbox casing had broken through the release arm resulting in not enough movement even tho the slave cylinder appeared to be moving fully.
If you remove the rubber boot on the gearbox side and look up the cluth release arm you could see mine had given up quite clearly.
Gearbox out to replace, think the arm was £50 genuine from nissan.

May be worth a look.

Cheers

Steve

Steve

a very good plan!

If you can find a camera that you can stick through the hole you can get a pretty good view of what's going on. If it were me and the gear box was coming out I would fit and new clutch and spigot bearing anyway to save paying the labour all over again in another year or so, as the clutches all seem to go between 80 and 90k miles.

cheers for thoughts

done 60K.

on sunday morning, the penultimate journey, there was a tinkling! sound
a bit like when something along exhaust s loose like a bracket.

had new exhaust late last year, so had a metallic sound and thought
must pop it back to fitters, but hardly anything to write home about.

based on what already spent this year on agree might as well sort
clutch even f just release arm,

the lions share of the bill is going to be labour! it's sad this has happened after all your patrol problems :(

I had terrano with same symptoms it was the clutch pressure plate couple of the fingers had broken sometimes it would work fine other time wouldnt go into gear without switching engine off and made noise as you describe
