Hi,excellent forum, have 97 maverick 2.7 TDI commercial, have read threads on clutch replacement,is it easier to remove engine or gearbox ?? Seems to be an issue with torsion bars seizing in etc, many thanks for any info

hi maverickman09, welcome aboard, i do believe you cant get the engine out with the gearbox in situ, so it's a gearbox out, give the torsion bars a good soak in wd40 and a wire brush will help, im sure it's a day's work to do a clutch, although some of the lads have done it quicker. :thumb2:cool:

Hi,cheers for your reply, looks like i will have to remove box, clutch does not yet appear to be slipping, but i am having intermitant grabbing and dragging when selecting ?. Have eliminated all obvious problems,no leaks, fluid change, pedal adjustment etc, their is wear in pin holding master cyl to pedal! ,should there be a bush in pin ?? mileage 135,000 fsh, no clutch fitted as far as i'm aware.many thanks

Welcome aboard to another yorkshire lad:thumbs

Is it simply Gear box Oil that wants changing? mine could do with changing but the drain plug is stuck solid and when the weather gets colder it is harder to get into gear until it's done a few miles and got warmed through.
