Hi Guys,

I went & bought myself a wee hand winch to lift the gearbox with (pics tomorrow).

Thing is I've never done a clutch, I have a new one along with fork & bearing but I have no alignment tool.

Can anyone recommend one that will fit the terrano.....alternatively you could come help me [emoji22]

I bought a laser clutch aligning tool ( probably from Halfords but can't remember) I remember opening it & being really disappointed with it as it's really plastic and nothing like what I had used before.
That said it wasn't expensive & it's had a few uses since I wouldn't recommend it if you were changing lots of clutches but if like me it's only for occasional use it is fine.
It works by centralizing & clamping the clutch friction plate to the pressure plate so that you can then bolt it to the flywheel as one.
Others that I have used are just a rod with correct size bush which goes in to spigot bearing in the end of the crank & another that is same dia as friction plate.
You could make one but I wouldn't bother.

multi size clutch al kits are cheap enough.use 1nce and the time it saves is worth it but you do still need to turn spline to go into friction plate even after using it.

i think most modern clutch kits come with some sort of plastic alignment thingy

Mel on the T2 if you put the average half inch drive extension bar into the spigot bush in crank it will be a good enough fit to see if the centre plate is centered, it is all I use, Rick

and as panebeater says gearbox in gear (4th) prop shaft in and turn to to align splines to center plate, love Rick

i got the same kit as top link, had it for 35 or more years and has done hundreds of clutches.

Last clutch i did was on sons Civic. Just measure hole in flywheel and clutch plate.Used a piece of 15mm copper tube that fitted in the plate hole and then wrapped electric insulation tape around it to make it up to the bore size of the clutch plate. This has always worked for me.

Hmm I don't have any Cooper tube so I bought the draper pin set
