whos up for doing a clutch change , 1996 maverick td2.7

and how much lol

I'm glad this has come up as I had a question to ask about this as I'm sure mine is going to fail imminently.

I've heard you can fit the 3.0l clutch to the 2.7 which is a stronger clutch?

Is there any modding needed for this or does it "bolt" straight on like the 2.7?

if I had a clutch :augie , there would only be one man I would trust in fitting it ....... the legend solarman 216 ..... other known as rick :thumb2

You only needed to ask :D
Yes I've done the 3.0 ltr clutch thing.
It's a bit hit and miss it seems , and to do with the friction plate bit. The flywheel on the 2.7 may need opening up a tad to suit if needed. 10 mins on a lathe. Mine was fine fitted straight in . However so few have done this mod it's not possible to predict which kit will fit or not.
Before you ask I can't remember what mine was. If someone dares try the STUPID BLOODY SEARCH function for my thread on it , the answer may be there :lol

Standard clutch is perfectly OK for a standard motor, makeitfit sticks propane up his with other mods to whack his power up high, I have done many clutches here engine out method, £100 a time you supply the materials, but have 2 post lift now so next one I do will try the dodge of sliding the box back on the torsion bars, but only hearsay as to if this actually works, having said all the above am booked up till June, Rick

if I had a clutch...

Sounds like the start of a new song...
Maybe Rick's new song lol...

If I had a clutch...
I'd fit it in the morning...
I'd fit it in the evening...
all over this land...

I'd fit it in a Terrano...
I'd fit it in a Maverick...
I'd fit it for all the members for such a small fee...
from all over this club...

...:clap

Hey Banshee when's the like button going to happen ? Or thanks or summut ?
I heart Rustic :) but not in a :camping: way :lol

Rustic post 9 is nice, thank you, Rick
Bite point is very very low on the floor on the clutch pedal and when car gets hot and accelerating through the turbo kick in point the clutch slips and the revs fly through the roof

Booked up until June!!!

Who else will put up with my ridiculous mod ideas? :p ;)

If you have free play at the pedal then do the test ( handbrake on, select 5th gear, foot to floor on loud pedal, slide foot of clutch pedal) engine should stall
within 2 seconds, Rick

I'll try that tomorrow :) Thanks Rick

Sorry Jason, if I was closer to Wiltshire I would come and hold the spanners, make tea and gererally be supportive. Its a heavy gearbox, take care. David.

So reading Pete's thread that Uncle Rustic found, even he wasn't brave enough to fit his own clutch :O

Is it really that difficult a job?

It's not hard but the whole thing is ruddy heavy. I'm working outside on a wonky drive
I might as well go to work and earn the dollar to pay a man with the kit.
I know my limits :thumbs
