Sometimes when i pull away from a stop i get a bit of a clunk from the front end, but twice in this really icy weather shortly after setting of there has been an almighty clunk like i have ran over something.
When its made its clunk it carrys on its merry way with no probs.
Do you reckon its the hubs freeing up, or anyone any other ideas.
Its a Mav 1995 2.7 td.
Thanks for all advice.

I get exactly the same from the front..........normally first thing in the morning and when I have travelled only 100 -200 yrds up the road.Probably something to do with the hubs . I haven't investigated any further at the moment.

mine does it too, but all the time when pulling away. I was thinking engine or gearbox mounts ? Bit of slack in the transmission ? Something broken in the gearbox ?

We are talking here about two trucks that are nearly 16-17 years old.....TBH it could be anything from suspension to a dead ferret in the inner wheel arch.....hard to diagnose.....but could be anything honestly.....slack in the transmission, stuck brakes, ball joint out somewhere, yadda yadda yadda....

Only way is to plough through the obvious things one at a time....

Try rocking the car from side to side, push/pull from the roof part when the driver's door is open, I tried this and it was the arb drop links at the front clicking away. In fact it was the nearside, so replace both at the same time, since you have all the tools out. They are cheap enough and only last 5 years with normal use.. It's these damn traffic calming measures that does it...:lol:lol

Steering stops are the quickest fix, blob grease on the 2 stops on either front wheel. Do this while you are looking. Needs doing every 3-6 months anyway.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Rustic
