Cluncking clutch pedal

Hi
Did i dream it? or did i read some where that a clunk from the clutch pedal was a regular fault i have just finished alll the MOT work on my mav took it for break bedding in session, then a drive after servicing the engine and then every time i dep-ress the clutch pedal i get a clunck i feel it more than hear it any one any ideas :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :roll: :roll: :evil: :lol: 8) :?: :?: :idea: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:

you thinking of pedal box breaking up sure ive read that one on here! time to get upside down in footwell with torch mate!

I think it's the clutch bracket as these have a habit of cracking. I'm sure there was a thread on this not long ago :?

Don't now about clunking but mine sqeeks when i depress it!! :lol:

defiate clunk ti came on almost emediately no warning nothing one minuate then a clunk though the pedal not bad but noticable i will have a look tomorrow :roll: :roll:

well at least it aint a clutch ratchet lol could be plastick bushes through pedal?

clonking clutch

hi i think it was shark1e who first wrote of this problem.
he found the nuts/bolts were loose on clutch pedal bracket.
squeek.
spray with wd40 all over shaft spring ect. put news paper under pedal give a good spray to wash crap out. did mine a couple of years ago.
its starting to feel a. little rough again so needs a respray.
look for cracking of bracket.

Hi Bigjim,
had identical problem with my terrano.
I understand the bushes on the pedal can break up but at least they are cheap, about £5.00 I think. Don`t know how difficult to replace though.
I used Mr. Sheen on mine and it cured it for about 6 months and doesn`t leave the cab smelling like a workshop.
After 6 months it worked like a treat again. Perhaps it`s one of those things you have to include in general maintenance.

Looks as if you are right the plastic bushes look worn and as you let the pedal return the pin clunks against the metal of the leaver as the plastic is worn away, looks a bit of a fiddle,MOT first then new bushes, dont kook like a drama anyway :arrow: :?: :lol:

sometime it clunks and sometimes it dont i recon the bush is moving around sometimes offering a plastic bush and then it moves and the worn bit moves into place offering no plastic between theleaver and the pin :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Mine is the same have sprayed wd to some improvement but then I bled the system and found a whole load of muck in there. Things seem better now but not perfect sometimes the pedal will not return which can be a bit inconvenient at times!

Check your bushes mate cos if they are gone you are rubbing metal to metal if the metal burrs it could pick up, this could be you problem :idea:

Hi,
Having just had the problem of clutch-pedal and bracket ,the spot-welds on the bkt breaking apart. I removed the offending bkt which I previouly welded in situ about 6yrs ago when I first aqquired the terrano. And also noticed that the return spring was broke and plastic bush where the clevis pin goes through was non existing , so this time I went to the scrappy and bought one for a tenner complete with the peda letc and it took me about 1 hour to replace,quite asimple job remove spring clip and clevis pin ,remove 8mm bolt which bolts upwards at the top of the bkt and in the engine compartment remove 2 nuts that hold clutch cylinder in place , back inside cab feed pedal assembly from underneath footwell ( a bit fiddely ) and replace ( I welded the spot welds fully before replacing it ).

Been and had a look at mine pulled out a coil of the spring which had broken. can these be replaced?
