Been to local pay n play day today I have noticed I have got a clicking sound coming from front hubs/drive shafts now it does it in 4low and 4high but only clicks when turning.not doing it in a straight line !!!! Any ideas before I start stripping it all
Clicking when turning in 4 wheel drive, high or low, under these circumstances unless you are on the slippery stuff, you will be getting transmission wind up.
So something has to slip, usually a tyre on the ground. BUT this wind up is putting extra force on the drive line. Prop shafts, CV joints, diffs, and the transfer box, and the front hubs of course.
Now, you need to check ALL 4 Universal joints for play, check for side play etc.
You could service the front auto hubs, and whilst you are at it, when the hub is removed, check that there is a circlip (snap ring ) on the end of the drive shaft, if not there the the drive shaft will pop in in and out of the hub.:doh:doh
So a couple of cheap and easy things to check to start with, before investigating more expensive components.:thumb2
