Hi. I've got a 2001 2.7 turbo intercooled commercial terrano. I use my truck for shooting. The last few times I've been in 4x4 disengaged & driven home and parked up on my drive I have a clear patch of liquid on my drive. It's odourless & is dripping from one of the vent holes in the metal sump guard. I drips for a night/1 day & then stops. Any ideas what it may be??? Thanks. Chris

front water pump?

ideally you need to take the guard off and trace it back to where it's coming from. We do not have magic powers ;)

Apologies for me being mega thick lol! It's not leaking all the time. It's only after its been in four wheel drive. Is this just a coincidence??

Possibly, I'd keep an eye on water levels and have a look with he sump guard off.

The water pumps on these are prone to leakage and the water usually finds it's way out via the bash plate (mine did). As Fez says, take the bash plate off and try to trace it back, or have a feel under the water pump when you are expecting to see leakage to see if there is any damp there.
If it is the water pump then replacement is probably your only option, but it's a fairly straightforward job (and not mega-expensive, loads of new ones on eBay).

Normally when Water Pump starts to leak the drips are on the floor in the centre pretty much in line with the water pump. I'd also be checking the state of your coolant to ensure you have the correct amount of antifreeze.

You can get a drip from clutch slave cylinder or pipes, it's possible that this is the fluid you have found.

Put a piece of white toilet paper or tissue on the fluid, then see what colour it is.

If it's the same colour of your coolant... guess what....? :nenau:nenau

It is coolant.:thumbs

Green, Pink, Blue ....:nenau

Have you got air con.I remember the first car i bought with a/c nearly had heart attack when i saw puddle of water under it didnt realise it was normal

Do you have Aircon?

If you use the aircon when the air is damp, like I did to demist the car this morning, when you switch the car off, the condenser drains out under the car and leaves a puddle, caused me a lot of panic on the first car I ever had with Aircon.

No air con! Just check coolant tank. Looks a bit low. Rad level as it should be. Topped it up/ put a bit of card underneath. Going to keep an eye on it. Many thanks for all the tips & pointers!
