I brought some of that Gunk De-Greaser, my mate said you paint it on with a paintbrush but I'm going to put it into a spray bottle and apply it like that then hose it all off...
Be careful if you are using Gunk or similar products when parked on tarmac...
It dissolves the tarmac...
The stones loosen, and soon you can get bald patches and pot holes...:doh
The problem with gunk... it stinks for a week or two afterwards...
A standard hose is fine, a power washer can cause more damage, it can wreck radiator fins, push water into connectors, push water and the surrounding debris into ball joints and bearings, and any oil seals or UJ's... ( regrease these afterwards).
Warm engine, but not hot, I also find it best, on a dry windy day, with the sun on the engine bay, it dries out much quicker.:thumb2
I then use some armour all spray on the plastic bits and it comes up really well.:thumb2
