Cigerette lighter socket

Hello all
As anyone fitted a ciggerette lighter socket in, or a socket for
plugging in Satnavs,ect. I have always had problems with mine.
I wondered if it's an easy job to fit an uptodate socket in.
Mine is a 1995 Mistral.

usually a simple job to replace one.did one on my renualt last year just a pull out and push in job.i was wanting to put a socket in the rear for the kids to plug their toys in but just not got round to it.

I have put two sockets in the rear of my t2 one on with ign the other on all the time. I have mounted them on the removable cover that comes off to get at the rear of the lights, and connected the wiring to the towing circuits. I use one for my coolbox the one that is controlled by the ign and the other for anything I might want to use whilst parked. regards..................bri :smile:

Wildbri, what you have done sounds a good idea, as i was thinking of adding a power socket for cool box, any chance you could give abit more detail please forfitting, electrics not a strong point of mine.

HI the ign meant the ignition. one socket comes on when the ignition is switched on and the other all the time. sockets, I tried to buy them but with difficulty so I called in my friendly scrap yard and as every car there had one I took my pick. Wiring... if you have a towbar you will have a socket which is wired into the car at some point, if you have the 12s socket suppling a caravan
(the white one) pin 2 cable blue this cable is ignition controlled, pin 4 cable green permanent supply, you could find where the wiring has been connected in the car. I put inline fuse behind each socket for protection of the car wiring, you can get them at any motor spares place. They fit in the space behind the light cover. regards ........................bri
