trying to choose 2 child seats, twins due! Have been told that the length of the buckles reduce the available seats that fit. something to do with buckle crush. any recomendations much appreiciated. Thanks M

Mothercare claim to have a child seat fitting assessment service,ie they will check the fit of a seat in your vehicle.Might be worth a go.

Think the buckle thing might be on seats for older kids.

Amy's 10 months now and has just moved on from her first seat. We got a seat and buggy that it will clip into from Mama's and Papa's. Still using the buggy but without the clip in set now and occasionally use the seat in other vehicles than normal. The clip in system is a god send.So easy to get her in and out of the car (whilst asleep), and no messing with straps everytime. We also got a spare base so we could have one in Alison's car and one in my truck, which was probably a bit lazy but well worth it.

Can't remember the brand we have now but its exactly the same as one of the recaro ones just without the label, made by the same people, forward facing and seems a good fit, in all the vehicles we've tried. Maverick, Subaru Impreza, Renault Master.

toys are us also offer a fitting/ trying service and britax seats a have a seat suitability section on thier site, we wnet to mothercare recently and were a bit disapointed by the service to be honest I think the new regulations have left a lot of people a bit confused :?

but the previous poster is righ the 'atutobase' system (for younger childrens seats) is brilliant as it does save a lot of struggling with belts, and dont forget your back seats do recline to help with fitting!

i dont know how far away from peterborough you are but kiddicare at werrington have an excelant fitting service and cheap they are on line

had a look on kiddecares web site, everything seems to be half price, will have to keep trying them in the shops then order online, excellent! which company make the autobase system that has been mentioned?

I think lots of people are doing autobase's now basically you put it in the car secured by the seat belt and as HB suggests just clip the seat in and out, Ours was a 'GRACO' and I htink the base was a bout £30 extra but well worth it if you have ever fought with the belts in the back or a car in the dark!

In fact i Think we may still have the seat and the autobase in the attic our daughter is gettin on for 3 and has long since outgrown it!
