Dogs & Humans

Like you Rustic I grew up in a house with Dogs but only one at a time!
When I flew the nest and got married we had a dog as soon as we moved out of the flat we were living in. Wifes family also had dogs.
Never been without a Dog since - somehow having no dog is like going home to an empty house in an odd way. In a way it's like when the kids leave home it leaves a gap in your life that takes time to fill with something else.

On the plus side having no dog makes going away for a holiday so much easier !

Wouldn't want to live without dogs anymore, currently 2 chocolate labradors in the house :)

Some of these pictures are awful Ruff :naughty :hide:

Mac do not suppose you want another, just been told of an old guy that has passed on and leaves a 12 year old long hair Chihuahua with no home, Rick

Thanks for the thought but we have 3 in total this recent one was to replace one that died last year he was a re-homed rescue - he was a cracking little thing - he had a heart attack whilst he was sat next to the wife wathing TV.

Luckily Chihuahuas are pretty easy to re-home.

My mates parents used to have 18 adult Chihuahua's plus puppies but they were really into the dog shows & did well often travelling to Crufts every year to show/compete. Hope the pup gives you many years of enjoyment:thumbs
Personally i'm a big Jack Russell fan & any owner of the breed will know why:thumbs used to have a pack of 3 a bitch & 2 litter brothers which were fantastic dogs, only have 1 JR these days again great dogs who doesn't like cars at all but loves 4x4's:lol not sure if going on green lanes with us when she was only 4 months old has anything o do with it:rolleyes: sadly she'll prob be our last JR due to the blood lines getting messed up these days with people crossing in these designer dogs:doh so unless I can find a pure blood papered smooth coat Irish Jack Russell it'll be either a Beagle or Patterdale Terrier next time around

yea we got two Jacks one a Parsons, great dogs, had five up to a couple of years ago, they all died of old age 14.5 average, two we got now only2.5 years old, Rick

Jack Russells

They are great dogs with attitude sometimes. Until a few years ago I thought they were all a bit nasty then I met a lass who had one from Ireland and it made me rethink the breed - it was a bitch but just such a nice disposition.

They can be nasty little monsters my old head dog out of our old pack was a real scrapper & would pin down rotties in under a minute but never drew blood, staffies or pitbull crosses on the other hand him & his brother just wanted to kill:doh that being said could trust them 110% with kids even new born babies never once was there a growl & a curled lip if they got an ear or tail pulled by a kid as they were to busy mothering them. The one we have now picks up on when my blood sugars drop during the night & wakes me up but if she can't see wakes my wife up:D

Thats very impressive ! Trained to do it or just instinctive behaviour?

No training at all just pure instinct:thumbs they say dogs can detect a chemical change & smell & some will act on it, during the day she'll ofen hit my legs hard if blood sugars are dropping & if the same happens to my wife (type 2 diabetic) the dog pesters her like mad until she checks. Around 3 years ago I took a turn for the worse when walking the dog & lost my vision as the bloods dropped fast & hard ate there but the dog took me home including crossing a main road quiet scary when you can't see:augie
