Can anyone tell me if it is possible to check/top up the gearbox through the engine compartment? My T2 is a 1994 pre-intercooler model, on which I am led to believe the level/top up screw is in the left side of the gearbox. I wondered if I could put a short length of tubing into the top up hole, and run oil in through a funnel until it trickles out.

Best to fill it up from under the car i got a large syringe from halfords just suck it up and squirt it in the hole or get small bottle of gear oil with spout on the end of it.

Old push bike pump makes a good syringe, to make it easier to push drill the end out and fit a brass/plastic fitting to push a larger plastic tube onto, instead of the tyre connector, and do not forget the transfer box oil, Rick
