Just been to Aldi and got some of this, only £4.99 for a 1 litre tin.

When I have used white smooth genuine hammerite, I have found that it chips off very easily if knocked, but the Hammer version, in black is very tough.

So it depends which type it is similar to.
Worth a try, at a fraction of the price.:thumb2

I've used this on my Patrol,it is very runny and you will probably need two coats.
