What ya reckon ? :sly

I'm thinking much better than the stock air to air cooler which offroad is useless as its heat soaked by the engine and not cooled by air due to know speed

This would offer much better cooling of charge temps for slow offroading

Where does the water come from to cool it if its from the engine then surely it will heat the air not cool it:nenau

You need a rad and a 12v pump of which u could get cheap off eBay

easier to just put electric rad fan on top of intercooler then when stopped and fan running it will be like doing 60mph down the road alot easier then fitting the charge cooler:thumbs

and a fan for the rad as you are not going fast enough, so pump plus fan load on the alternator probably = more than the power gain in the first place, just my thoughts, Rick

Thing is, do you really need the extra power increase offroad?

Unless your doing some extreme stuff no point. Unless you want to do it as a nice project.

Water over the intercooler works

In download area

You mean water mist spray ? That's a good option actually, works on evos and imprezzas :)

Yes mate, your probably right

I think your right mate, loads of money and work for little gain, just a talking point/ bling factor in the end

Might be worth looking at a bigger intercooler, the td5 ones go cheap on ebay.

Well would you believe it / I did a thread on it somewhere :D
I didn't want another cooling circuit on board or more rad restriction. I used a TD5 intercooler and water spray and easy n cheap to do. KISS :thumbs

And in the post this week a water injection kit, Also can be used with a methanol mix :naughty :naughty :naughty :naughty

I've been seriously thinking about the options here. So once I sort out the new exhaust manifold I'll be going with a straight top mount intercooler with fan.

Was going to do water-to-air but like to keep water well away from the intake. Especially in a diesel. Plus the benefits didn't justify spending the extra money and finding the space for the rest of the kit.

Make sure you check the rated pressure drop across it. We normally run 18-20psi on the standard TD27 with the fuel pump adjusted slightly.
A guy I know races his and runs 30psi, with a bigger fuel pump and turbo. BUT standard block and head. Those TD27 blocks and heads are bullet proof :thumb2

Ya can't adjust fuel on these later electronic fly by wire ones, unless u add a chip

I know mate, shite

I think one day I'll just buy a mechanical pump off ebay and do away with the bloody lot :D

Are the mechanics up to taking extra power, and under shock loads, half shafts snap, so how much further can you go?

For a road car, I would rather get to my destination than have the extra power for 10 minutes and then get a lift home with the AA:doh
