Hi,

I recently bought my Terrano in the UK, filled it with diesel and drove it back home to Spain. What a great little truck for round here.

I have bought some Spanish headlamps but I'm slightly stuck on removing the old ones - there are three screws that hold them in the front, but there is a small 'ball' locator that goes into a fitting just inside the wing that I cannot figure out how to get free. I'm not sure if it just 'snaps' or 'pops' in and out or whether these is some sort of clip that has to be removed first. I don't want to tug or yank it in case I break something !

Anyone got any ideas - I've looked in the R20 PDF manual but it doesn't dhow anything about removal of the whole headlamp assembly.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

im sure some of the " off road " guys will be along soon , im certain theyve broken a few headlights in their time :augie

Thanks for the reply.

I can just see that it pushes into a plastic fitting but I don't want too force it and break anything, but equally I don't want to take the wing off either !!!!

take a look at the manual. ive never changed the lights, but im sure makeitfit has

Thanks.

As I said above, I have got the R20 manual and scoured umpteen million pages of PDF but can't see anything !!! I could be blind, stupid, or both !

Hi Reetp
Welcome to the club. The headlights just pull off the 'ball' locator there is no clips. i find it easyer to put a small leaver in between the light and the wing but be careful not to chip the paint on the wing.
All the best Tommo

Hi Reetp. I changed mine a few weeks ago - the "ball" fitting is a tight fit, plus as the light moves in towards the centre of the car it fouls the bodywork. I found the best way was to squirt some WD40 into the plastic clip that retains the ball, then use a really wide-bladed screwdriver (with a piece of rag between it and the wing) to lever it a bit at a time until it pops out - you will probably have to hold the other side of the light at the same time so that you can wiggle it about to get it to clear the bodywork. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help people ! Popped out nicely & all done.

Hi Reetp

I'm intending to bring a T2 over from the UK to France and, like you, will need to replace the headlamps with LHD ones. I'd be grateful if you could suggest a source of inexpensive LHD headlamps. I'll be looking for 2002-2004 models.

Hi CaptLimey. LHD Terrano lights seem to be the proverbial rocking horse poo - I looked for months on eBay - zilch, so I thought, next time I'm in Spain, trot along to the local breakers - job done! NOT! I went to to 6 breakers in Malaga (they're in a row down one street). Not only did they have no headlights, they didn't even have any Terranos (yet probably one car in five in southern Spain is a Terrano). The last two even laughed when I asked! I think because there are so many on the road in Spain, they are sold as soon as they come in to the breakers. It might be different in France, but if not there is a German company who advertises them new on eBay regularly, problem is they are nearly £400! I did get mine eventually, from someone who took their Terrano to Spain for a year after fitting all new (front & back) LHD lights, then brought it back home, changing back to all RHD - that was through eBay, still cost me £300 for the four though!

Thanks Terranical
Yes I've seen the adverts from the German source and 'Roger's Headlights' but, as you say, they're all in the 400 quid range for a pair. Haven't tried French breakers yet - I've yet to buy the new truck - I'll keep searching.
Regards CL
