Hi everyone, can someone answer the following for me as I've got my self completely confused.

I am going to do a service and will also change the following and I need to know what to replace it with. I looked at the workshop manual but failed to take it in.

The car is a 2004 lwb 2.7tdi. 5 speed manual.

1. Gearbox
2. Transfer
3. Front diff
4. Rear diff

Also, can I service the crankcase breather? On my Rover 75 I have a filter that needs to be replaced every now and then just wondering if this is the same?

Thanks

Dave

Hiya mate, I used this for my rear diff, same model as yours but mines a year 2000
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/5L-LS-80w90...L-5-LS-80w90-5-Litre-/121710898130?nav=SEARCH

I used this for gearbox and transfer box
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/5L-Hypoid-Gear-Oil-EP90-API-GL4-EP-90-5-litre-/111619990848?nav=SEARCH

And this for front diff

I haven't done front diff yet but the rest haven't exploded yet lol, you just need to figure out which gearbox and rear diff you have so you know much you'll need, I think you may have the c200 rear diff tho on a 2004, Mark.

i got all of mine from this place: http://www.autoparts.uk.com/

im guessing that yours is the same as mine - so this is what i got:

3 litres (need 2.8) of this for the back axle http://www.autoparts.uk.com/comma-ls80w90-limited-slip-gear-oil-1l.html

2 litres of this (need 1.3) for the front diff http://www.autoparts.uk.com/comma-ep80w90-gl5-gear-oil-1l.html

and 6 litres (a 5 and a 1)of this (need 3.5 for the gearbox, and 2.3 for the transfer box) http://www.autoparts.uk.com/comma-ep80w90-gear-oil-5l.html

it all came to about £48 delivered. not sure if that is good or not, but i got it all in one hit.

now for a busy bank holiday monday lol

oh, and if i read everything right, make sure you can remove the filler plug before the drain plug....

all the oils are a 3 yearly change, except for the gearbox which is 4 years.

oh, and above all else, ensure the rear diff oil you use is the stuff for LSDs.

Nice post and not a bad price, I challenge someone to beat that!!!

Well done chaps I knew you wouldn't let me down:clap:clap

For the life of me I couldn't fathom the Nissan table in the workshop manual. Don't know why just all blurs into one. Happens sometimes dependant on fonts, spacing and ambient light.

Got me hands on some genuine Nissan LSD additive for the rear diff. (There's a joke in there somewhere....)

I've spent most of this afternoon trying to see if I could come up with an idea that would make removing and refitting the oil filter anymore awkward than it already is and other than doing it wearing boxing gloves I drew a blank. Looks like the designers hit design gold as far as that is concerned.

The rest of the afternoon was spent repacking the front bearings. Wasn't expecting to do that so fluids tomorrow. Woo hoo gl4 running down my arm to my armpit can't wait!!

Thanks again

Yeh I love changing the oil filter, once a year, every 6k or whenever You have some old clothes to bloody ruin lol, actually says that in the manual :D
