Since Saturday I have been having trouble starting. The engine would turn over quite strongly, but it wouldn't catch. Also a bit of white smoke!

So have a look through some of the threads on here and it looked like I needed to change the glow plugs. Down to motor factors today and bought 4 Lucas LP079's (4 x £10).

So opened bonnet and bastard... where are these glow plug things? Couldn't see them! So back on here and noticed workshop download on glow plugs. Thank "%&@ for that!

So I took everything apart and replaced the glow plugs, quite chuffed with myself, everything going well until I tried to put clip back around rubber hose. Took forever as couldn't open it wide enough to go over the hose. In any case eventually done.

Terrano starts fine. The proof in the pudding no doubt will be seeing if everything is ok over the next few days. Fingers crossed.

For what they are worth here are some pics... (in no particular order!)

An interesting post. Like the pictures :thumbs

I had the same problem this time last year. It seems you always notice this when the cold mornings start. Unfortunately for the Patrol I think I was charged about £24 each :(

Zimbok, good write up, for others with the Td, the glow plugs are a different part no.

Just one thing...watch the language, we have already picked up another member earlier this week, so it's only fair to mention this too. B*****d :augie

I'm sure, with your permission, someone could use those pics in a download.

Nice choice of plugs mate, they are the ones I got for exactly the same price!!! Best of all they are metal rod and not ceramic so they won't disintegrate and drop off into the engine

I like the hands free ratchet, I want one :lol:lol

Hi if I took mine to a local garage to have done what would the cost be roughly ? As I don't have any tools to do it myself. Also could anyone recommend a garage in Sheffield to use please
