Dear all,

I'm looking for a set of AT tyres for my 1997 T2.

Just found someone with an unused set of Bridgestone Dueller. 2 tyres completely unused, 2 other ones used for 1 year. BUT: they've been in storage for 4 years. So: 2 unused, 4 years old; 2 used for 1 year, 5 years old.

First of all, is this a good idea, or would you advise to just buy new? If so, which ones for mixed use?

Secondly, what would be a fair price to pay for the above used/stocked tyres?

For info, they come of a T2, and have the correct sizes.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

they are crap tyres honestly dont fit them we had them on our t2 when we bought it look up my old tyre posts the replacements are soooo much better

Event ml698 before I got the 32's, they were about 55 quid a pop and awesome on and off road.

Very difficult to drift though once I fitted the new tyres :( (I guess that's good) :naughty

And try not to buy tyres that have been in storage for years.
Believe it or not tyres have a sell by date as they can perish

Can't remember what's on mine, supposed to be a/ts, but do drift nicely on the gravel at work lol

I had Bridgestone Dueller on my last T2 when I bought it & they were deadly in the wet & the worst tyres i've ever had suffered 6 weeks & replaced all 4 even tho they had 6mm of tread on them. Bridgestone Dueller are a road tyre not an AT

OK all, thanks for the info! I'll go for all new tyres after the winter, upgrading brakes and suspension at the same time then.

Any tips on brand/type? Mixed use, not only off-road.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the recall that Nissan did on the very first Terrano's that were built, they were fitted with Duellers from the factory and then started exploding on their own due to a sidewall defect

My preferred tyre of choice, are BG Goodrich AT.Great off road, and good road manners. And very good life span, not cheap but you get what you pay for..

+1 I have these fitted on the Maverick and they are brilliant, I'm hoping to get them fitted onto a set of Pajero Rims that I have once they have been sprayed after I've confirmed that they are straight and true.

That brings me to my next job, I'll have to upload the pics so that Pete can do me a Photoshop

BFG's are good but as Bry and Banshee say, they're not cheap!

I had General Grabber AT's on my Trol up until May, did 20,000 miles on and offroad, including down in Wales last year, and still had over 50% tread on them.

Only sold them as I fitted 32" mud terrains :sly

I'm currently running General Grabber AT's. Would the BF Goodrich reduce fuel consumption on-road? Price difference seems to be about 30-40 € (25-30£) per tyre here, between the General Grabbers and the BF Goodrich AT's.
Made up my mind in any case, will go for new - might even get new rims to go with them :)

If I had to guess I would suggest the BFGs will have increased fuel consumption compared with the General Grabbers as the BFGs are a more aggressive AT (in my opinion).

It might not be by much though :nenau

Sure I've posted my rant previously:nenau
My ford ranger when i got it had a set of barly leagay HT Dullers on it shagged at 34.5K the set of BFG AT's were only just showing signs of wear some 40K later, by wear I mean the casting bobbles were nearly worn off leaving a good 10-12mm of tread.
if you are going to keep the truck ( or the wheels n tyres )for ever BFG AT's are the way forward.
Pahhh to fuel economy. In reality you could probably do with a Ford Focus day to day, but you want a 4x4 as we all do!!, go for grip and "NEVER SCRIMP N' SAVE ON THE BITS YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON"
Tyres are king, and ground clearance and suspension and floodlights and stickers ...........:lol
