For some reason, my Maverick keeps locking the passenger door and rear door. It's infuriating as it seemingly does it at random, both when I'm working on the car and when my wife finds she can't get out after a journey. I'm worried that at some point, it's going to lock itself with the key inside...

Is it meant to do this?

Central locking you say  I think I used to have that :augie. :lol

Mine has done it a few times, sometimes after I close the driver's door, sometimes overnight, we keep it in a garage, so don't lock it. The driver's door never does this, as it never originally had remote central locking, you had to lock with a key or from the inside lever on the driver's door.

As a consequence, it can never lock me out, and it has NEVER unlocked the doors which I would have to get sorted.

What I think it is, is a connection being made in the area of the driver's door, near the lock, so have a look at the wires in this area, there could be a loose wire, or the switch to central lock could be faulty.

Not a difficult job to remove the door card to have a look.

could be this at fault, the timer/relay thingy:nenau

Behind the drivers side kick panel. This is the panel that On the passenger side, the bonnet release sticks through. I have a spare timer if wanted

I've seen a module there, I wondered what it was, I'll check the connector on mine, as over the years I have been routing cables in that area, I might have disturbed something.

I wonder what could be in there, as the label says do not drop?

Could it be a mercury switch that causes the doors to unlock in case of accident, or inversion :eek::eek:

Maybe makeitfit knows....:nenau:nenau

There's 2 relays and a lot of resistors and components soldered on a circuit board. Think I got a pic somwere

On the LH side, there's the rear wiper relay, interior room lamp timer/dimmer, headlight wash relay. My terrano is the equivalent of the se now as I put all the parts from a se on my slx. Relays, lights and things all just plug into existing wireing that's all ready in the terrano
