Hi guys ...

My central locking does not function at all !!!! Locking/unlocking the vehicle is done manually ... i.e. with a key. Is there any way that you guys know of, to lock/unlock the rear door, as it has no key etc ... ?!?!? It stays open, and it's just a question of time before someone tries the door, finds it open, scales something out of the vehicle!

p.s. Weirdest thing tho .... when the vehicle is running, (and this is the ONLY sign of life of the vehicle even having central locking) ... if I activate the hazard switch, all the doors unlock ... is this a safety feature, or are the electrics just messed up ? :doh

Welcome buddy :thumb2

I've not heard of the Hazard Switch unlocking the doors before but I'm sure someone with a newer truck will confirm if this is the case or not.

Do you have a fob? If so it might be the case that you just need to pair it to the car again, I think you can have a maximum of 5???

There is a workshop download of how to achieve this here;

Sounds stupid as well and I don't mean to offend but, change the battery in the fob first. Also make sure that the fob is 433MHz, it may be that the previous owner tried to get clever and accidentally brought a 418MHz remote which will not pair with your truck

Also pull the steering column plastics off and on the left hand side of the steering column towards where the radio is there is the central locking module which states which frequency you should be using as seen below

Hi Virus , I have a 2000 face lift like yours and the doors do not unlock with the hazard switch, However safety obligatory features vary vastly from country to country so it may be working as it should.
Is there a switch to one side of the steering column with a padlock icon on it,
if so this should open all the doors once you are in the car through the drivers door, if it wasn't for the hazard thing I would say the Keys just need re programming
If I try to open the door with an un programmed key it sets the alarm off. I don't know if this is standard but if so the hazard thing could be the result of someone trying to bypass this ? :nenau

When in the car have you tried all the locks on the doors to see if one will lock the rear boot?

Wow ... thanks for all the feedback ... :clap :thumbs

Nothing related to the central locking worked (manually from inside or the button with the lock on it ..)
... and I agree ... I think someone tried to "bypass" or "fix" it previously.

Well I had to get it sorted, as I'm using the vehicle for private and company use (tool boxes in the back - self employed),
so I had it looked at, and ended up fitting an aftermarket alarm system, which the auto-electrician
wired to the existing solenoids, so it's all working again ...

p.s. Sorta bummed out tho, cause I ordered 2 new kits for the keys, so I'm throwing almost
40 pounds into the drink :doh
(funny bit is I ordered it all the way from the UK ... lol)

Anyways ... it's sorted :thumbs
