or maybe english was left off deliberately and some expert decided to add the option "other" to make the figures suit them ... you could have played into there hands .

should have refused to complete until your legally recognised nationality/option was included on the form .

we thought that about the missed off bit but it was just a bit of a crap lack of decent design.

Thats what i was told :thumb2 and is quite probably correct

However :augiei replied that we were known collectively as Welsh, Scottish and English with British being considered more an overarching description as in British isles (Irish wasnt even on the form!!!)

They couldnt counter that one which is why the boss tol d me to f off and the shift fill in the closest

with the new way the world is so freely viewing what is going on around the world (live) demonstrations and the falling of dictators around the world . the way wars a fought.

the world is all falling for what we all hope or lead to believe is a democratic world ....

trouble is what freedom do WE in the democratic societies actually have . ok we dont stone to death adulterous wives, or cut of limbs from thieves, or publicly execute other criminals ... but those are the laws of the land that have been around for a long period of time , people know the risk before crimes are committed and are bought up knowing the laws of the land they inhabit .

in our free country/society there is still a consequence/punishment for not towing the line .

irish on census, hmm tricky, are the NI folks irish, which sounds like as per republic
or british, or english, isnt that when GB becomes UK when NI is included.

I believe the number of uncompleted forms ran into the millions last time :thumb2

Oh and this apparently....

You can be fined for refusing to answer any census question EXCEPT those related to religion.

(a) on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum or to both;
(b) on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to a fine or to both.
(6) For the purposes of this section—
(a) references to a Registrar include, where he is also the holder of a designated office, references to him in his capacity as the holder of that office;
(b) a person is to be treated as under the control of one of the Registrars if he is, or has been—
(i) employed by that Registrar (whether or not on a full-time basis); or
(ii) otherwise employed, or acting, (whether or not on a full-time basis) as part of that Registrar’s staff for purposes of this Act;

(i) acquired by any person mentioned in subsection (2) above in the course of any work done by him in connection with the discharge of functions under section 2 or 4 of this Act;
(ii) acquired by any such person in the course of working, for purposes of section 5 of this Act, with any information acquired as mentioned in subparagraph (i) above; or
(iii) derived from any information so acquired; “designated office”, in relation to a Registrar, means any office for the time being designated by him in writing for the purposes of this section; and “personal census information” means any census information which relates to an identifiable person or household.]

So I suppose if I get the Census Enumerator's job,I'll fall out with a lot of the people on here On the other hand,I'll have a few quid coming in for 8 weeks which will be nice.

Why should they have an option to put Irish as nationality on an UK census form or a work related form?

Anyway,I'll fill it in, Tesco and other supermarket chains know when and what type of bog roll you buy so no big deal if the Government know what I like to have a little sexual fun with. It's much easier to refuse to fill in a form than march to the House of Commons to protest, sadly not filling in the form is nowhere near as effective as people power, but if it makes you feel powerful for a few minutes, what the heck,enjoy your mini revolution.
