Common problem, you may fined the display comes back in warmer whether, mine dose, but plenty on here have changed there's and there are several threads on this. The only problem is the hazard switch, but this is quite easy to sort again there are threads on this.john

There is a problem with trying to stick with the Nissan radio, unless you get your one repaired...

Basically, the first time they are switched on, they do a Serial number sync with the ECU, and from then on, will only work with that ECU, so if you buy a second hand one it will not work once fitted to the wrong ECU

If you look on the back of the radio, you may find it is made by Clarion or Blaupunkt, so may find one of their radios would still work with the built in multi-changer.

I'm doing mine next weekend. There's a thread on here atm :thumb2

Also depends upon the year of vehicle, around 2001 they came complete with the hazard switch. Mines a R reg with the same problem, that one doesn't talk to ECU but they've all pretty much gone at that age.

So is it facelift models that sync with ecu or just a certain registration date? :nenau

Good info btw

both of mine were sync'ed with ecu first was a 1999 & now got a 2005, first one had coded on it but when refitted when I sold it it worked without asking for a code

Yes, mine is a 99, and it also had Coded on the front, but never asked for it. When I read the workshop manual, it explains how the coded Clarion ones were converted for Nissan, and changed to use the ECU. Apparently, you can send them to a Clarion dealer to get them reset, but they charge, and would want proof of purchase.
