My CD player had a CD stuck in it when I got the truck. CD wouldn't eject and player kept clicking for a few seconds when I tried to eject. Finally got CD out with metal tweezers but now can't get a cd in and it still clicks when press the eject button. Radio works fine. Tried thumping the side of the facia and taking out and putting back fuse and still the same. Can the cd be fixed or is it done for

What's thge point ? CD = old skool. Just get a good head unit with usb in and bingo :thumbs
Plenty of suitable candidates on fleabay :D

If you get it repaired, it's going to cost you more than it's worth, you might find the same model on ebay, but as said before, might be time for a new system, with USB and possibly a jack input, which will take an output from nearly any current device, or future device. Like iphone, ipad etc.

What could have happened, is the mechanism might have been bent out of line by a previous owner forcing a cd in.

It might be a case of strip down, rebend and reassemble, but I would avoid original cd's and use your copy for the car, keep your original at home.
I never keep originals in the car for several reasons. Heat, scratches, theft etc.

CAUTION: if you are testing a CD player, with the cover off, you are at great risk from the laser led, which can cause damage to your eyes.:doh

You could buy a radio linked device that takes a USB &/or jack input, that you tune your radio into, use a frequency not used in your area.
The better quality ones work quite well, and some even take SD cards. Not a neat solution... wires everywhere.

good luck, best regards,

Rustic

Yup, the Nissan radios aren't good:doh

Ford one in Mav is very good though, separate amp under the drivers seat.
Mine has the Cassette player, still working, nearly 18 years old.
I use a Cassette adaptor looks like a tape, that links to a portable cd player.:augie

I have tried the radio link type as mentioned in other thread with an SD card, but to be honest.. bit of a pig to find the track you want, even though it actually has a remote control. Maybe I should persevere with it on longer journeys.:nenau

deffo go for a new head with mp3 many have usb for a memory stick, and some
have sd card slot. there are also some heads now that instead of a cd drive have
a cavity where an ipod or mp3 player can be stored though think would go for cd
drive for compatability.

dont foget there are now these low profile usb sticks so wont bounce around in
the usb port as much as a traditional unit.

on my last one I managed to use the usb cable to my phone, with its memory
in portable storage mode and access my music, of course many heads claim
to control ipods too.

I just use my phone to play music and sat nav etc straight onto the head unit via 3.5 line in , simples.
All screen controls are on the phone so much easier than the head unit itself.
then if a call comes in the handsfree bit does it's thing. All done easy peasy.:D

Thanks for all the replies and useful suggestions. :thumbs CD player is done for so and I don't think its worth the effort getting it fixed. Did take the whole unit out of the dash to see if there was anywhere I could stick in an cable to use an mp3 as a auxiliary. No place to stick in rca cable. Will look at manual for wiring connector to see if there is slots on the connector for linking in auxiliary equipment.

yes, ford do some of the best stock audio systems around:thumb2, that's why if you're on a budget, i advise Terrano owners to put maverick speakers in, as they are heaps better:thumb2

Would most car audio units be ok or will some kind of code be needed for the ecu to recognise it?

more than likely the nylon teeth in the cd loading system will have stripped , not really economically viable to repair even if you could get the correct parts

im not actually sure, some are NATS 'nissan anti theft system' and they are coded to the ECU i believe

I think mine is one of these and recently its started to skip when I go over bumps in the road - does this mean I will have problems if I eventually rip it out and replace it for something completely different?
