Hello,

Im currently renovating a rural cottage, and looking for a CCTV system to install to keep an eye on a few cars and materials i have sitting int he back yard,

I have no internet or phone line in the property at present, so not fussy for remote access from a phone etc

Looking at these two systems, anyone have any input?

part of the company I work for sells those Swann ones, they are pretty good for what they are - images are very clear from what I have seen, and the DVR seems reasonable - reliable and easy to use.

Swann do seem to be getting a good name for themselves, its a bit of a minefield when it comes to quality out puts etc tho!!

I don't need cctv ...... I have Sheila ..... she knows everything that goes on our street ( sometimes before it happens :augie:lol )

I am looking into getting CCTV at the moment. I want wireless HD, so not hard wired. I have had the nod not to touch Swan :nenau

This is what I think I will get, although not perfect as it has a very short lead from the camera, it is the best I could find in my long search for CCTV.

Did you notice they have not got any and do not know when or if they will be available, What sort of distance are you looking to cover radio wise? as I have had a few of these by different manufacturers and found them very poor do not listen to the blurb about 100 mtrs you will be lucky to get 10, Rick

go online and look for a pci card, then use an old computer and cheap cameras to build a system.4 camera card about 20.comes with program xp,4 night cams around 50 so all in 70, cheap.thats what i use.records 4 cams at the same time records in 15 mins segments so easy to find.

Yes I did, but they are available elsewhere :D

Where I want to put the camera, my router is the other side of the wall, so about 3 foot, hope it can manage that.

Best CCTV, see for miles, smell for miles, works under water, goes over fences, no need to call police :augie

Never heard of the first one.I have had mixed reviews regarding Swann, although i do believe they are improving. This is who i have used, uk based.Very friendly and helpful, also they have videos on "how to do" on youtube. But a quick telephone call will resolve any problems you may have.
