anybody up on cb as i have one fitted but not sure if it works properly as i can here people but rarely get anyone to here me. any ideas.

have you checked the swr?
you need a meter to do this, makes a huge difference if you get it as low as poss
also make sure that you are not transmitting on low power.
what rig do you have?

Its a team me4 and swr reading is a bit high but cant seem to lower it its a new rig aerial and coax any other ideas.

Be carfull

If you have a cb in you jeep, ie terrano. and it has a burner on aswell. Not good on a late terrono, as it plays game,s with the ECU be carefull, Dont have a burner put the aireal at the back of your jeep.and run the wire.s down the middle of you jeep away from any main wire. If you have got a high reading on your swar it could be a bad earth on aireal or bad fitting on the pl29 plug that goes in the rig. If still bad get a new aireal.Could even be the hong cong harry rig you have. cheep one not much cop

if you can hear people talking your earth and ground is good, you may alter your aerial height by the small grub screw on base see if swr moves. if there is movement carry on lifting ,just bear in mind that most cb sets work at 4 watts and you may be hearing home base sets running kwts best bet is to find another friend with a set and drive away from them untill you loose contact, any where from 5 miles upwards is good for a standard set, you need loads of patience ,but its worth it.:thumb2
